I have 28 weeks vacation in my bank and no indication that my employer is going to terminate me. Should I be requesting payout of this vacation and severance/termination pay?I am looking to better understand 1 specific aspect of Severance pay as I am currently at a company that has a risk of major layoffs in the near future. Regardless of the severance amount, it is common that some employers will offer a lump sum payment, or they give notice and they have the person still working there for X number of months. There is a third option, to negotiate installment payments (which might help when tax returns come along). As an employee, if a company terminates my role, am i forced to take whichever option the company chooses? For example, I would rather take 18 months' pay in a lump sum now vs working for another 4 months and then only taking 14 months' pay. What I'm getting at. Its not an ideal situation to be laid off but then the employer still wants you to come to work for 4 months and finish up all your projects, or help to train your replacement for 4 months. I'd much rather take the full payment and leave immediately. Does an employee have a right to choose or refuse 1 option or the other? Thanks!Hi I work in truck and trailer technician I was hired to work inside in a bay!I was ask to go outside during -20 and colder to repaing lights I refused and written up then week later had meeting with HR and management I was told they expect to go and do minors repairs! I said i don't work in the cold or outside! I think there letting me go! What's my options! What is considered to be a constructive Dismissal from workThe company I work for has closed the distribution portion that I work for and I was offered a working severance for two years. Within the severance it states that if during this time I find another job that I am to give them written notice as soon as possible and I would be paid out 50% of what is left on my working severance. When this offer was given to me the company that purchased the distribution portion also offered me a job. I have since signed the working notice severance as there was a short time limit to do so and turned down the other position with the other company. My question is if I was to take another job somewhere else or even if I decided to take a job with the other company that offered me in the beginning is there any way that my original contract can be null and void and they don’t have to pay me out my 50%? I also want to make sure that me moving on to another position, they cannot say I quit and not have to give me my severance. Previous Next Page 52 of 1630
