On top of this, I get an annual one time vacation pay of 6% of my previous years commission. This year my employer has changed the formula they use to calculate the vacation payout on commissions, leading to a smaller payout. Historically: Box 42 of T4 x 0.06 = payout. This had nothing to do with the weeks of vacation the company offered which increased over time based on tenure. It was a straight 6% of the previous commissions earned in the previous year. New formula: salary + commission x 0.06 - vacation taken ($) = payout While the minimum vacation pay in BC legally is 6% and my employer has not gone below that amount, they have in previous years opted to pay more. This year they decreased the amount paid, without advance notification of the change. Can a company legally change the way an employee gets paid, which equates to less money, without advance notification? I was cutoff LTD and settled. Now employer cutting off health benefits end of May. They are going to send a letter to doctor in regards to return to work. I would like a buy out or severence after 40 years but don't know how to go about this ?My Employer's Pension Plan claws back the entire pension amount due if I were to continue working with them after I reach 71 years of age. However, if I were to retire and work for another employer I would be eligible for the full pension. Can I claim that I am indirectly being forced to retire?I was recently charged and was wondering how the background check process for the government of Canada works, as I need to complete a background check in order to secure my thesis placement for next year. I was dismissed, for no cause, from a director level role April 2024. Less than a year later (Mar 2025) the company posted and are in the process of hiring for the same role. Is this within their legal rights & if so was their any obligation to reach out to me first to see if I was interested? Note I did accept a severance package and signed the release/separation form.
