I have been working for a school board for 25 years and have been in my current role for 10. The manager is shuffling employees at my level into other portfolios which have different collective agreements and each area has a different levels of technical expertise that is required. Of all the portfolios my current has been very distinct and different from all other areas. I use technology but not to run complicated reports because the system does not allow for the portfolio I am in. My manager has recently advised me that she is moving me to another area where there is no support as the administrators doing the work have left including an assistant that up and resigned. My concerns are there is no support in this new role as all admins have left the unit. Also, I don’t understand how she chose who was leaving from our current unit. There are 2 of us currently, I am more senior by about 10 Years. My coworker is much more technical and has also worked with collective agreements that are more in line with this area that I am assigned to. In addition, I have recently gone through a serious medical condition for which I am still recovering and trying to find the root cause. I was off November 2924 and returned to work April 2025. Can the manager just pick anyone she wants to change portfolio? I am non unionized but would a more senior not be given priority? I feel this is a set up for failure which I am not up more emotionally nor physically. Do I have any rights?
