Ask your question and an employment lawyer in Ontario, BC or Alberta will answer in minutes
I've worked for a large Insurance/Investment company for 20 years supporting various advisors. We worked in branch offices located within a reasonable commuting distance of where we live. We have now been moved to a Managing General Agency (MGA) owned by the insurance company. The office location has changed and we are asked to commute to city outside Toronto/Picering area which is an hour 1/2 commute there and back from where I live. The new job also has some changes from what been doing. This involves learning new systems in order to work for the MGA. I would like to retire soon but I want a good severance package not to just retire and take what they give me. Can you advise on this?
The change in location, may amount to a unilateral change to the fundamental terms of your employment. We would have to review your contract of employment along with the employer's sought changes to be able to advise if this amounts to constructive dismissal in your circumstances. Please contact our office for a consultation.
