Hello,
I work as a part time associate at a large retail chain. I only provide an availability of one four-ish hour shift a week as I have a fulltime job and it has been this way for many years. I get scheduled every day I'm available. I'm being told now I have to be available at least three days a week. The form we fill out with our availability says it is "recommended" we be available three days a week. I'm assuming I signed a contract or something when I was hired almost nine years ago, but I don't know what it says about availability. I've been given three options: increase my availability, move to a store closer to my home and increase my availability for them, or resign and reapply later if I can increase my availability. I just want things to stay as they are. Can they fire me? Pay me out? Move me to another store without me choosing to?

The company cannot force you to accept 3 days a week after working once a week for 9 years and doing so would constitute a constructive dismissal.
