I work at a big canadian company as a software developer, and I'm going to my home country for about a month. While I'm there, I was offered a fixed-time contract for around 1.5 months to work remotely (paid in home country, but will potentially be updated on LinkedIn). I'll be on vacation with my Canadian company for around 1 month. Is this legal? Will my company have grounds to fire me?

Whether it is grounds for dismissal will depend on the terms of your employment contract or any company policies with respect to working a second job. That said, regardless of the terms of the contract/policies, a company can terminate you without cause as long as you are paid adequate severance pay.
