My wife is a Massage Therapist (Alberta), classed as a Contractor, the clinic owners told her yesterday they sold and new owners take over today. She does work out of 2 other clinics so not sure if she'd be considered a 'dependant contractor'. She's been there 4 years (about $10,000/yr). Can she consider this 'constructive dismissal' and go for severance from former owners? Or is she a true Contractor and no severance? Thank you

Thank you for your question. She may not be considered a dependent contractor is she works for multiple clinics, but she may still have rights if the new owners end her contract or change her terms of employment. While a change in ownership does not necessarily trigger a constructive dismissal, if the new owners do try to change her contractual terms or end her contract, please contact us at the number below.
