I wanted to know if an employer can change their payroll system and hold back a pay? I am a salary employee. I started in 2021 and get paid on the 15th and last day of the month. I have just been informed that the company is transitioning from real-time pay to pay in arrears. This means I will only receive one pay in the month of February.
Employer's are generally not able to withhold pay. Further, your contract may outline your pay period (i.e. bi-monthly) creating a contractual entitlement to be paid at certain times in the month.
