Hello,

I was on vacation and send an email the day before my return telling me I was being terminated effectively immediately and would receive 2 weeks severance (which I still have not been provided a paystub or breakdown for but it’s less than my usual pay). Is it legal to terminate someone even if it’s just 1 day before they return from vacation?

Thank you for your inquiry. An employer can terminate an employee at almost any time, for almost any reason, so long as the severance offered is acceptable in the circumstances. With regard to severance, you may be entitled to additional amounts. Please contact us at the number below to schedule a formal consultation.
