There are going to be layoffs in the near future, thus potential excess responsibilities or expectations may happen. For example, there may be new on-call policies or voluntary overtime duties, or surreal expectation of performance.
Wondering if refusal of such would result in termination with cause(disobedient), which disqualifies me from getting EI?
And how to prepare for such case if it occurs? And am I in the position to refuse to sign any contracts if there are any new policy documents?

Refusal may result in termination, whether for or without cause. Make sure to document everything, if you have a verbal conversation send that person an email immediately after with a quick recap of the conversation and ask them to confirm your understanding. They do not need to respond, but this way you are able to paper a verbal conversation. If you are asked to perform job duties outside of your job description, cite your job description as the reason for your refusal to perform tasks. If you are asked to sign anything, we strongly recommend you consult with a lawyer before signing, as it is very difficult to assist once you have already signed.
