I handed in my resignation letter and stated I could work the rest of the Fridays of this month, and March 27th would be my last day. They emailed back and said they want the resignation effective immediately and already inactivated my employee number.

Hello,

If your employer waives your notice of resignation, they have to pay you for the time you would have worked between the date you gave notice and the date that was to be your last day. If they refuse to pay you, you can contact the Ministry of Labour to investigate, and they may order the employer to pay you for the days they told you not to come in.
