Ask your question and an employment lawyer in Ontario, BC or Alberta will answer in minutes
we are being forced to relocate due to landlord. our new location will be 30 mins further from our current location. I've been with the company a long time and have been treated well. I'd like to know some topics that I could discuss with my boss to make this relocation more bearable. ie: I would ask if I could work from home a few days a month, or if I could work different hours, or bring my dog to work, or .... What have others asked of their employers that I could try?
Thank you for your question.
A hybrid working arrangement is a fairly common request and may gain you some traction. Another potential option we have seen are reduced or shifted hours to help you adapt to commuting time or traffic. At the end of the day, however, you know your employer best and what is likely to be most feasible based on the nature of your role.
If you would like to discuss this further, or explore whether you may have the option of pursuing a constructive dismissal, please contact us at the number below for a consultation. It is important that you do not make any major decisions before consulting with a lawyer, particularly if you are considering a constructive dismissal (which varies case by case).
