My employer is going to terminate me while I am on leave of absence and pregnant. I suspect I have been discriminated against when choosing others. My company is going through layoffs due to cost savings. What are my rights? Is there anyway I could dispute this?

If your employment is terminated while you are on a leave of absence for pregnancy, that would be a breach of the Employment Standards Act. It could also be a breach of the Human Rights Code, depending on the circumstances. Finally, depending on the severance package offered to you, it could be a wrongful dismissal.

All that being said, there is little that you can do until it actually happens, so it is our recommendation that you contact us at the number below as soon as you receive written notice of termination.
