My employer was supposed to pay me yesterday(2/12/26) for my work period from Jan25-Feb7th 2026. He exclaims since I was let go on Monday (2/9/26) that an "accountant" needs to review my ROE for me to receive this payment. Is this right?

In Ontario, an employer must pay a terminated employee all their outstanding wages, either seven days after employment ends or on what would ordinarily have been the employee’s next regular pay, whichever is later.

While the above is in regard to your minimum statutory entitlements, you may be entitled to a significantly greater severance package depending on the circumstances of your employment and termination. We strongly encourage you to contact us to arrange a consultation with one of our employment lawyers who can assist you and help ensure that you receive your lawful termination entitlements, without delay.
