My employer belongs to a large pension fund which I have been contributing to for the past 16 years. I am interested in resigning before my pension matures. The pension fund will allow this but requires that 80% of the pension value be held in a LIRA. I do not remember ever signing anything that stated this was a consequence of terminating the pension early.
Is this something that the pension fund is legally allowed to do rather than provide the full value in cash?
Hello, this will likely depend on the terms of the pension agreement. We would need to review the terms of the pension agreement to provide you with a specific answer. Please contact us at the number below if you would like to arrange a time to review the terms of your pension agreement.
