I was just demoted at work today from regional Operations Lead (30 people) to local Team Lead (10 people) and I want to explore if it is constructive dismissal, but my immediate need is to know what I should be saying or not today to make sure I don't get framed as having "accepted" the new role, and without being at risk of termination without cause. I'm in BC Canada. I've just been told this on a phone call so far, and my response was that "I understand this decision has already been made so if that's my job I'll keep doing my job." Did I accidentally "accept" by saying this?

If an employee consents or authorizes the employer's unilateral change to a fundamental term of employment, that action would not amount to constructive dismissal. Please contact our office for a consultation with respect to your particular matter.
