I was approved to work from home 4 days a week and go on site 1 day a week last December. Now they are asking for additional information, are they allowed to ask for this additional information? Can I ask them why they are requesting more documents to be filled out by my doctor now and why they didn’t ask for this initially?

Hello,

I believe that you are saying that your current work arrangement was approved as a result of an accommodation request due to a disability. If this is the case, then it is normal that your employer would periodically request updated medical information on your restrictions.

Your employer may have a functional abilities form that you can have your doctor fill out. At the least, your employer should share a job description to allow your doctor to assess your job restrictions.

It is important that you and your doctor engage with your employer on these requests to ensure that all parties are cooperating with the accommodation process.
