1)Does the verbal notice from employer regarding the closure of the business count toward my common law severance?
2) What are my rights regarding severance pay in this situation? With 26 year of service. In June I will be 53 year old. My roll is production and customer service Manager. Please respond me directly

If the employer advised you of the specific date of the closure and that your employment would be terminated then unfortunately the time until this date counts towards your entitlements. However, as a 26 year employee you can be entitled to up to 24 months of notice and/or severance and are likely entitled to severance after the closure. Please contact us at the number below for a free consultation with a lawyer to discuss the specifics of your situation.
