Add Comment Question: I worked my a non profit that doesn't make 2.5M I don't believe I would be entitled the severance pay. I have worked there for 9 years and they gave me 8 weeks notice of when my last day will be. I am a contract worker that, that's when my contract would end. Am I entitled to anything past the contract end date or since they gave me 8 weeks notice that is enough. Answer: If you have worked for the same employer for the past 9 years on a series of fixed-term contracts, you may be deemed a 9-year employee. As for your entitlement to severance pay, this will depend on the terms of your contract, but you may be entitled to common law reasonable notice based on a 9-year employment tenure. Common law reasonable notice would likely be significantly more than 8 weeks. Please contact us at the number below if you would like more information about your situation.
