Add Comment Question: We are currently in an extended Plant Shutdown, from June 29th to July 11th inclusive, for my Crew. ( Continental Shift ) I've requested a ROE ( Record of Employment ) from my Employer; as Service Canada States that to qualify for EI Benefits; you need to have NO Insurable Earnings for 7 Consecutive Calendar Days. This is regardless of the fact that I work Continental Shift. My Employer says that I don't qualify; as they're sticking to their opinion that Continental Shift does apply, and reduces my number of Consecutive Calendar Days off. They're wrong, with respect to Service Canada Policies, and the Employment Standards Act . I'm off for 7 Consecutive Calendar Days; July 4th through the 10th , inclusive. Please confirm that I'm eligible for EI Benefits. The 1 week waiting period has been waived by the Federal Government during this period as well. Please confirm that I'm indeed eligible for EI Benefits. Thank you. Answer: Unfortunately, we cannot provide legal advice without additional information.
