I’ve had an issue in the past with my employer not paying me or providing correct ROE therefore leaving me without income for months. Recently I have been off of work as per my physician and they are harassing me personally for additional forms instead of contacting my doctor directly. My doctor sent in a note requesting an additional 4 weeks off of work and to return Oct 31. My work required additional forms that I was u aware of as they were sent to my work email even though I am to be at home sick and not obligated to look at that when not on the job. I had to personally foot the work and drive around to figure out how to have these done because they threatened to put me on an unpaid LOA and revoke sick time despite the doctors written letter. My doctor was on vacation at this time and they still were harassing me and my doctors office for these even though her note stated when I could return and the office stated she was away. My doctor returned and filled them out stating to be off until October 31 and return on modified reduced hours for 3 weeks. They are now saying I have to come back to work tomorrow because they can accommodate my restrictions right now and they don’t have to wait until Oct 31. They are stating that if I don’t accept their offer then I will not be paid. Shouldn’t my doctors request of me being off until Oct 31 take precedence and then return on the modifications after the fact? Do I return or do I not? I have contacted my doctor to send another note but I feel this won’t matter. They also ask personal questions ie. what’s your appt for etc. while being sick with and in a Flare with Lyme disease I shouldn’t have to also have this stress to deal with while I’m at home trying to get better so that I can work but I have no idea what to do. They have threatenedmy job in the past stating we will have to look into separating the relationship because I was placed on a days only accommodation for my disability and they were not keen on accommodating that what so ever.In the event when I return to work after more than 2 years on disability and my workplace offers me modified duties or roles/responsibilities should I and can I accept these and should it affect my pay and/or seniority for my years of service in the event this goes to severance or constructive dismissal down the line. According to your severance calculator, in the event I needed to pursue a case, it would put me in the “maximum” allowable compensation of 24 months. Therefore, what should I and shouldn't I do/accept to ensure I retain this maximum allowable compensation (other than signing termination papers)?I work at a big canadian company as a software developer, and I'm going to my home country for about a month. While I'm there, I was offered a fixed-time contract for around 1.5 months to work remotely (paid in home country, but will potentially be updated on LinkedIn). I'll be on vacation with my Canadian company for around 1 month. Is this legal? Will my company have grounds to fire me?I was just recently laid off from the company. 2 of my colleagues were laid off the day before. I have worked for this company for almost 20 years. At the meeting, I asked them why I was terminated. They gave me 2 answers. At the meeting, it was "due to financial woes, the company is not generating revenues and that is why we have to lay off employees". But, on my Record of Employment (ROE) it will be entered as "Termination due to shortage of work". However, on the day I was let go, my department manager just hired 3 new contract workers. That doesn't make sense to me. As for the severance package, I am questioning about the "Indemnity in lieu of notice of termination". They are giving me eight weeks. But isn't it for "1 week per 1 year employment for the company? Thank you.I am planning to accept an offer for a job starting in the new year. I am currently pregnant and plan to start maternity leave in my current position before starting the new job (I cannot start the new job earlier), which will go beyond the current specified start date for the new position. Is there any human rights protection or other laws that protect me from having the offer rescinded due to taking maternity leave before the new position starts, or are there amendments I should request for my offer letter?
