I was given working notice jun16 for July 17 termination with no explanation. I was trying to leave the office June 19 and my boss jumped in front of the door so I could not get out. I had to push the door to get out. I filed a complaint with the police and they viewed the cameras and gave them a warning about being aggressive. I am now afraid to go back and didn’t return Monday but sent and email outlining the above. I have been told they will only pay me until June 19. Is this correct? I would have thought because they are the reason I am not going back I would be entitled to more.

Thank you for writing to us. From what you have provided, it appears you have been dismissed, or at the very least constructively dismissed. As such, you are entitled to severance. To get a sense of what you are owed, I would encourage you to visit the severance pay calculator our firm has developed (www.SevernacePayCalculator.com). It is important to note that prior to seeking professional advice do not resign your employment or accept any offer being made by your employer. I would also encourage you to call us and set up a consultation with one of our employment lawyers.
