I was temporarily laid off with out notice and no choice in the matter. I did not say yes to it. Just given a letter and sent home after 3 hours of my regular shift that day. Collecting EI benefits. Have been for almost 2 months I have been calling my work for updates on my rehiring with no updates they tell me. They have not closed and still working only a small percentage was laid off. They are not staying in contact with updates.
Is this legal? What do you suggest? What are my rights? Can I demand my job back?

My name is David Vaughan and I am an employment lawyer with Samfiru Tumarkin. In most cases, a temporary layoff is a constructive dismissal (or allows the employee to treat it as such, if they wish). I recommend you contact our firm to discuss how we can assist you either return to work or collect a severance package.
