I received an email that my position is no longer available, however I was told verbally that it will be in effect mid June. Does the notice of termination i rec'd allow me to leave now or will it be considered a resignation if I don't wait until the end of the term that they have specified verbally?

It's a resignation if you leave before the announced last day in June which means that you will receive only earnings up to your resignation.
