My employer terminated me while I was on medical leave with a note from my doctor. Is this legal?

Hello, and thank you for your question.

If your employment was terminated because you have medical issues and required a medical leave of absence, then this is a violation of the Ontario Human Rights Code. Therefore, not only would you be entitled to severance, but potentially human rights damages as well.

In order to make this assessment, we would require further information from you. Please contact us at the number below to arrange for a consultation with one of our legal professionals. We would be happy to assist.

Thank you
