Can an employee refuse termination in th form of working termination severance. I have worked for company for 11 years / I am 60 yeas old. My passion with company is Plant and office manager. I do not have an employment contract with the company. I had shared with the company that I was thing of sopping work approx April 2026. They now gave my a termination letter with end date of April 30 2026. But as a working severance. Am I entitled to more time than what they are offering?

My name is David Vaughan and I'm an employment lawyer with Samfiru Tumarkin. There is no way to refuse working notice of termination, apart from resigning. However, if the Company's payroll is over $2.5 million annually and it's a provincially regulated employer, you would be owed severance pay equal to approximately 13 weeks at the conclusion of the working notice period (because this cannot be provided by way of working notice).
