I am already employed for several years in my condo as a superintendent. The manager just now asked us to be cleared by police. I have a couple of minor infractions for drug use when I was a kid and before I was married. Should he have been allowed to ask me for this and can he fire me over it now?

If you don't comply with their request they may fire you anyway so you should agree to the background check. If they fire you as a result of it then call us and we will discuss your options, entitlements, and the course of action that best suits your circumstances.
