If your boss wants to have a "talk" with you, are you obligated to have that talk behind closed doors in secret? Or can the employee ask to have the talk in front of witnesses for accountability?

In a non-unionized environment, there is no right to have a witness attend a conversation between you and your boss. If you are concerned with what is being said to you in that meeting, you should know that it is not illegal to record your own conversations with others without them knowing, be it in person or over the phone, as long as you yourself consent to recording it. If you have any further concerns, please contact our office for a consult.
